AniMoodTonight's anime notebook Back to AniMood

Delete account

Delete your AniMood account.

You can delete your account here at any time. You do not need the mobile app or a Match profile, and this also works for suspended accounts. Use your local AniMood name and password, not your AniList details.

Updated 4 sections

Before you start

  • Deletion is permanent. We cannot undo it or bring your notebook back.
  • Export your data first if you might want it later.
  • Your AniList account is not affected.

Export your data first

  1. Sign in at animood.moe and open Notebook.
  2. Open Settings and choose Privacy settings.
  3. Choose Export my data, then Download JSON. In the mobile app, use Copy JSON and save the text somewhere private.

The export is a JSON file with your account details, notebook (including the “from AniList” mark on titles copied from your AniList list), the moods you picked, your taste nudges, Match profile, privacy settings, photo review status, the likes, passes and blocks you made, the reports you filed, your shared-pick choices, your AniList link with its settings and queue for writing to AniList and the record of your AniList syncs, the chat messages you sent and received and how far you have read each chat, your in-app notices, when your recovery codes were made and used, the browsers remembered for sign-in, visits linked to your account and the messages you sent through the contact form. Your password, recovery codes, the keys that remember your browsers and your AniList token are never included, and neither is the cached copy of your public AniList list. If you want a copy of anything it does not include, ask us.

What is deleted and what stays

Deleted straight away

  • your account: local name, password hash, recovery codes, remembered browsers and account dates;
  • your notebook: saved anime, passes, viewing progress, reactions, the moods you picked, taste nudges and taste analysis, including imported AniList history;
  • your Match profile, uploaded photos, likes, passes and blocks;
  • conversations on both sides, and reports made by you or about you;
  • your AniList link, stored access token, queued list changes, the record of your AniList syncs and cached AniList responses for your account (titles copied from AniList, marked “from AniList”, go with your notebook);
  • your in-app notices, and notices in other people's lists that mention you;
  • your privacy settings and visit records linked to your account.

What stays

  • your AniList account and any list changes already sent to it. Change those on AniList;
  • the shared anime catalogue and counts without identifiers;
  • a one-way deletion receipt that cannot be turned back into your account, and moderation log entries with the account references removed, for up to 3 years;
  • messages you sent through the contact form, unlinked from your account, for up to 12 months after they are closed, because they can be the record of a request;
  • web server logs, rotated weekly and kept for about 26 weeks;
  • nightly backup copies of the database, kept on the same server for 30 days and then deleted, so your account is gone from them within 30 days. Backups are only used to recover from a failure, never to bring back a deleted account.

Signed-in sessions on your other devices lose access. Someone who already saw a photo or message may have saved a copy. If some files cannot be removed straight away, their cleanup is queued for the operator, and you do not need to do anything. More in the privacy notice.

Delete your account

Three fields, then it is done. Take your time.

The name you sign in to AniMood with.

Your AniMood password, not your AniList one. It is sent only to AniMood, to confirm the account is yours.

In capital letters. Deletion cannot be undone.

Can't sign in?

AniMood cannot send password reset emails, because it does not collect email addresses. If you saved recovery codes, choose Forgot your password? on the sign-in screen and use one: you pick a new password, you are signed in straight away, and your other devices are signed out. Each code works once. You can create codes in your notebook under Settings, in Password and recovery.

Without codes, use the contact form with the topic “Account help”. Tell us your AniMood name and anything that helps us confirm the account is yours, for example details from your notebook or Match profile, or that you control the AniList account linked to it.

RememberWe will never ask for your password. Do not send it by email or in the contact form.
